Reakirt’s Blue Butterfly by Bob Russman

The Reakirt’s Blue (Echinargus isola) is a small buterfly of about 3/4 to 1 inch in size. The heaviest populations in the U.S. are in southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. The are common in my Tucson, Arizona gardens.

The Reakirt’s Blue butterfly in this photo is feeding on nectar from Yellow Dot Wedelia (Wedelia trilobata).
