This is the first black and white photograph in a series titled “Walls of Time”. This image is of a building wall at the Mission San José de Tumacácori. The mission is located at Tumacácori National Historical Park in southeast Arizona.
Built in 1750, the mission would become central to many cultures including European settlers, Jesuit and Franciscan missionaries, and native people of the area including those of the O’odham, Yaqui, and Apache tribes.
In addition to the mission church and grounds, the park provides access to the Santa Cruz River. There are opportunities for hiking, birding, and for the photographer.
