This image features two of the mission buildings at the National Historical Park in Tumacacori, Arizona.
“Tumacácori sits at a cultural crossroads in the Santa Cruz River valley. Here O’odham, Yaqui, and Apache people met and mingled with European Jesuit and Franciscan missionaries, settlers, and soldiers, sometimes in conflict and sometimes in cooperation.”
– National Park Service – Tumacácori National Historical Park
In addition to the mission, the park provides the opportunity to enjoy nature. The park includes a portion of the Santa Cruz River and its riparian area. Paved walking paths and hiking trails wind through the surrounding mesquite bosque (forest). The park also includes a portion of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historical Trail.
